On July 31, 2024, Eddie Hearns was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, finding eternal peace. Eddie's life journey was one of faith, love, dedication and complexities, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Born on October 22, 1960, to the late Anniemae (Westbrook) and Richard Hearns, Eddie grew up in the challenging yet vibrant streets of the Bronx, NY.
His early introduction to faith, marked by his baptism at a young age, shaped his character and life. Eddie's passion for learning led him to SUNY New Paltz and CUNY Hunter College, where he developed a deep love for technology.
Eddie's professional career spanned over 30 years as an IT specialist, Revenue Cycle Manager, and CPC Coder. His expertise and dedication earned him profound respect and admiration in his field, becoming a beacon of knowledge and reliability.
Eddie was preceded in death by his elder brothers, Willie Samuel Garrett (Earnestine) and Richard Hearns Jr., as well as his special cousins, Johnny Westbrook and Terry Lewis. Their memories remained close to his heart, shaping the compassionate man he became.
Eddie's life and memories will be cherished and remembered by his family: his present wife, Lisette Gonzalez Hearns; his first wife, Olga Eadie-Hearns, and their three children, his daughter, Nikita Hearns Gerrins (Brandon); his two sons, Gadia Richard Hearns and Nyakwe Edward Hearns along with his stepdaughter Soliel Platellas.
He is also remembered fondly by his two sisters, Glenda Jackson (John) and Dalerie Spence (Simon), his two brothers, Anthony Kim Hearns (Charnee) and Michael Hearns (Karen); a special cousin, Germaine Westbrook (Willie); his grandchildren (Nylah, Quinn, Forest, and Elvin) and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
